A person wearing glasses and a black coat stands with arms crossed, smiling at a piece of abstract art on the wall. The artwork consists of geometric shapes in blue and brown, with wire elements.
Doors and hallways represent emotional transitions when moving to new places, symbolising both familiarity and the courage to start anew. These spaces explore the tension between what’s left behind and what lies ahead, holding personal narratives.
Rail gates, on the other hand, symbolize isolation, fear, and control, reflecting power structures that operate invisibly, as explored through concepts like Foucault's panopticism. These gates represent societal pressures to conform.
In my work, entrapment evolves into a story of resistance and freedom. I use symbolic "prisons" to show the struggle between confinement and the desire to break free, offering a personal yet universal message about overcoming limitations. Through these elements, I encourage viewers to reflect on their own experiences with control and the desire for liberation.
